What is your word?

For many years, I have my yearly ‘word of the year’.

Why? A word can center you. It can bring you back to the mission that God has for you in this particular year. It is the word that perhaps grows and changes you. When storms or celebrations come up over the year, you bring in the word. For me, although we are still in January, I have already heard him whisper the word in several circumstances. I have smiled and thankful that I am learning more about myself through this word.

How do you get it? Just sit with God. Ponder on your life. Go about your daily life and keep thinking, “what is my word?”  You will find it. God will reveal it.

Some of the words used are: authentic, listen, kindness, boldness, brave, create, celebrate, joy, sing, rest, laugh, extravagant, adventure, travel, receive, walk, grow, identity, courage, freedom, contentment, peace and many more.  Depends on what is shown to you.

And when I have it, I write it in places around my home. On a stone. On a post it on a mirror. As the Israelites did, we also need reminders.

I encourage you to find your word for 2023.

And what is my word? My word is Listen.
